Our Story

Y todo comenzó...

De manera muy simple! A todos nos apasiona leer y queremos conocer a los mejores escritores. Una cálida tarde veraniega una escritora, un comunicador social y la ejecutiva de una organización no gubernamental intercambiaban ideas para mejorar su comunidad. La escritora expresó su necesidad de tener un lugar donde presentar sus trabajos. Ellos decidieron crear la Primera Feria Latinoamericana del libro. Un evento que conecta autores, escritores, ilustradores, diseñadores, artistas, amantes de la lectura y nuesta comunidad en la ciudad.

Ana, Edgar and Leity, ansiosos comenzaron a buscar patrocinantes siendo el concejal David Oh el primero en creer y aceptar ser parte de este maravilloso proyecto. Pasaron pocos días y se unió un grupo pequeño de organizaciones no gubernamentales como: Acción Colombia, Casa de Venezuela, Taller Puertorriqueño y un talentoso grupo de voluntarios que hoy conforman el comité organizador.

How it all began.

It’s simple. We love reading and we want to know the best writers in Philadelphia. One summer afternoon a writer, a radio personality, and an executive director were interchanging ideas about their community. The writer expressed her need to have a place to present her work in the city. So when they couldn't find any options that could meet this criteria, they decided to create The First Latin American Book Fair. An event that connects authors, illustrators, writers, designers, book lovers and our community in the city.

Ana, Edgar and Leity reached out to the City Council office, specifically the office of councilman David Oh, who graciously accepted to be part of the project. A small group of Philadelphia's most influential Latin non-profits organizations such as: Acción Colombia, Casa de Venezuela, Taller Puertorriqueño as well as an amazing group of volunteers are now the organising committee that is making this big dream a reality.
